In this video, Dr. Berg talks about Keto (Ketogenic Diet) on steroid / 5 extreme weight loss hacks (tips). This is for those people who would want to lose weight healthily and fast. Typical Keto (Ketogenic Diet) is 5% carbs, 20% protein and 75% fat.

5 Hacks / Strategies
1. Zero Carbs – The amount of carbohydrates determine how deep in the ketosis you are gonna go.
2. Protein 3 to 6 ounces – This depends on several factor like the age, weight and metabolism. The strategy with protein is to not go with lean low fat protein (the leaner the protein, the higher the insulin spike) – Start consuming foods that combine protein and fat naturally.
3. Fat – Don’t add extra fat (MCT oil, keto bomb, butter). The key is to make sure that the fat naturally comes from the protein together.
a. Typical Average Person (75g) – When you consume more fat the body burns more of the dietary fat. When you consume less than 75g the body will start to consume its own fat.
b. 50 to 75g grams of fat is really good to help get into ketosis and other nutritional benefits.
4. Leafy Greens
a. The body needs potassium, magnesium, nutrients and vitamins. 7 cups of vegetables minimally.
b. Fiber – It will specifically feed the microbes in the digestive system which then will turn into a very healthy fat called Butyric Acid that will help insulin resistance and lower insulin (Good for blood sugars).
5. Intermittent Fasting – Start with two meals and day and then go OMAD or one meal a day. The key is to not eat unless you are hungry. The way that you would know that it is working is when your hunger goes away.

Protein types NOT to consume:
• Chicken
• Dairy
• Turkey
• Lean Steak
• Lean Fish
• Peanuts

Protein TO consume:
• Salmon
• Sardines
• Pork
• Fatty Hamburger
• Eggs – Pasture-raised and Organic
• Avocado
• Bacon

Fats TO consume:
• Avocado
• Olives
• Pecans
• Almonds

Hey guys! so today we are gonna talk about keto (ketogenic diet) on steroids, extreme weight loss. This is not for everyone, this is for those people that need to lose some quick weight and some people that wants to dive in and do whatever it takes to lose weight healthily and fast. Typically when you do keto, you have 5% carbohydrates, 20% protein and these are calories, total calories, and 75% fats. So that is typically what you would do. What I recommend is slightly different, we are gonna give you 5 hacks or strategies starting with number 1, normally you would do 20 to 50 grams of carbs to do the 5% right? we are gonna bring the carbs down to zero. So yes, this is extreme and it is not for everyone. If you will go zero carbs you will go into keto very very fast. Now the thing with protein, we don’t wanna go too little and we don’t wanna go too much. If we go too little you may start losing muscle mass.

  1. What if you are a Type 2 diabetic and suppose to eat 3 meals a day with 2 snacks, what do you do so your blood sugars do not go to low, should we keep pecans close by and just eat 3 or 4 to keep sugar level my A1C is 7.5 and weight 340 at 6 ft I take lots of meds and Lantus at night. I did weigh 300 but when I started the Lantus I gained but my A1C went down. Suggestions appreciated.

  2. Keto keto keto… Lose lose lots… HOW MUCH SHOULD I BE LOSING? Everyone talks about losing weight but no one every says how much. I know everyone will be different but there has to be a range and average of what I should expect to lose. Can someone provide a link to this?

  3. Hmm I agree with everything you say.
But eating less fat go's against everything the Keto diet stands for.

Honestly from my experience if the human body doesn't have enough food in its mind.
It will break down & destroy everything it can before it touches the fat.

It makes more sense to the human body to destroy muscle because muscle is costly to maintain & such.

Now perhaps being in ketosis changes this?
Since the body is already adapted to use fat as the main fuel source.
So maybe it will work that way?

So I have mix feelings on that.

    I haven't started yet.
Perhaps when I do start & I'm a few months in. Maybe I'll experiment & try what your suggesting on the 3rd or 4th month.

One way or another fingers crossed this will work for me!
    I'm 5ft 5 & 215 pounds.
I'd like to loose between 65 and 75 pounds!

    Normal diets haven't helped.
& when I tried the gym I don't think I committed my self enough. & mostly only gained muscle rather then burning fat.

So an unlikely person convinced me to try this.
    So here I go!

  4. Dr. Berg…can you answer a question? I'm always wondering when people say that with these diets that you can eat a steak, or hamburger, etc. that they don't elaborate a bit more. With steak…can I put a marinate on it, or does it have to be plain with only salt and pepper? For hamburger…am I just cooking up ground beef only, or is it ok to put other ingredients in it/on it to give it some more flavour? (ie. make meatloaf)

  5. Your delivery was great…your tone is very calming. Thank you for the information. I've literally "restarted" Keto four times in the last six weeks. At times I struggle with what to eat and what not to eat…my goal is to follow this exactly and hopefully it will yield great results.

  6. Any suggestions on a zero carb salad dressing with no sugar? So let me get this straight…vegetables/salad mix are zero carbs because when i add all my salad veggies in my carb tracker it really adds up

  7. Doc, if we do extreme keto plus intermittent fasting on say 1 meal a day, do we then need to eat a three course meal to get in 55g of protein, 67g of fat and 7 cups of vegetables?? I'm confused 😅

  8. Started this Monday 10/22 and have lost 4 lbs so far and it's only Friday. Took 2 days to get into Moderate Ketosis and 3 to get into deep Ketosis. On top of going to the gym, this diet is stellar.

  9. I watch all your videos, such excellent material!

Question – 70 g of fat (threshold you mentioned). wouldn’t that figure change depending on different body sizes, and if so, how do you get a more accurate fix? I am 6’1 and my girlfriend is 4’11.

  10. Lost 22 pounds of pure visceral fat in my first month. Lost over 45 pounds total on this diet plan. I feel better, healthier, alert, sleep better. No drinking was tough but after a month I don't miss feeling so damn good and never being hung over. Thanks Dr. B
